Hanabi

During summer in Japan there are many fireworks festivals (Hanabi taikai). 'Hanabi' literally translates to ' flower of fire'. Tonight we attended a rather large (12,000 fireworks over 1 hour!!) event on the Tama River flat with our dog group, minus the dogs of course. Dixie would have been petrified if she had heard those loud bangs! We took food and drink and enjoyed a wonderful evening watching some pretty amazing fireworks!! If you view the video here, turn down the volume first.

Like 4th of July here but not usually for a whole hour! Those were spectacular. No, it wouldn't scare me but it would some of the others here.

Those are some fine shots, and the video is excellent.

We had some good ones last year for National Day (here in Gib) in September and I took some ok photos on the night setting. Then I took some at New Year on a firework setting and they were rubbish. :(

I wondered what camera and what setting you used? And was the video done with a camera or a video camera?

Thanks, Kate

We had fireworks during national day parade (to celebrate Singapore's independence day), but it lasted a mere 10 minutes.

The 1 hour hanabi must have been spectacular.

The firework pictures are awesome. Good move not bringing the girls. Kess is scared of fireworks too!

WOW, that's quite the display! And they DO look like flowers of fire! What a great description!
Stormy wouldn't have enjoyed all the loud bangs, either. I'm glad you girls stayed home and guarded the place!
