Zoorasia

Yesterday I took the children in my class on their final field trip, to a zoo in Yokohama called Zoorasia. A lot of zoos in Japan are a pitiful site and made me upset. Zoorasia however is a zoo set in what seems like a huge botanical garden and where the animals are in enclosures that are more naturalistic settings. Not many of the animals are caged. This zoo is dedicated to the display and preservation of endangered species. The rain held off and everyone had a good day. I'm sure Jazz and Dixie could smell some of the animals on me as when I got home I got a very good sniffing over.

I've only been to Taronga Park zoo and Dubbo's Western Plains Zoo here in Oz and they are both excellent zoos. The number one priority is the animals and that's the way it should be. It would be upsetting to see animals caged in horrible conditions.
Thanks for sharing those beautiful photos.

The animals in that zoo look healthy & very well taken cared of. The zoo here in Malaysia is the most saddest place you'll ever go to. The animals are in terrible condition especially the bird section. The chickens behind the glass window are diseases & have hardly any feathers left on them. Absolutely depressing. There was even a Rottweiller in a hut kind of cage. I bet the girls were wondering where you went to...hehehe!

That is so true. It's good that some zoos have progressed from cages to natural settings. Taronga Park Zoo is excellent. The animals have a great view!
