I have just finished reading a good book I could really relate to called " What the Dog Did - tales from a formerly reluctant dog owner". Despite the beautiful cover picture it is not all about beagles but rather a collection of stories about the author's pets (one of which is a beagle), and of dogs of family and friends. It is an easy read and quite funny - just perfect for those early morning commutes on the packed Tokyo Subway!

If you go to Amazon you can read the first page and it was so powerful i had to buy the book.
If you're interested, we could exchange books. I love reading anything about dogs but sometimes dont want to buy and keep ammassing things in our tiny flat!

Yes, yes! This is a great book! I very much enjoyed it too. I read it over a year ago and now that you've reminded me of it I'll have to read it again.
Another book I would recommend is "A Three Dog Life" by Abigail Thomas. Don't let the title fool you ... it's not all about her dogs but her dogs are her stability in living with the outcome of a brain injury her husband suffered. It's such an inspirational (and sad and funny) book and the author is a truly gifted writer. Short chapters and an easy read ... I finished it and read it all over again right away I loved it so much!
And then of course there is "Mama Pajama Tells a Story" by our fellow DWB friend, Patience. I haven't read it yet but I absolutely can't wait! It's clear she's an amazing storyteller just by reading her blog http://patience-please.blogspot.com
